SKIN TYPES.

Let’s start with, do you know your skin type? Yes? No?…. Okay.

Here’s how to find out:

1. You could wash your face and wait for about 30minutes without applying anything and see how it behaves/feels.

2. Go about your day as you normally would and see results at the end of it.

3. Visit a dermatologist and have it tested.

The skin types are:

1. Dry skin- feels flaky, has a powdery look.

2. Oily skin- characterized by greasiness or looks shiny.

3. Combination skin- skin that’s oily at the forehead, nose and/or chin (T-Zone) and drier cheeks.

4. Normal skin- oils are balanced and doesn’t feel dry.

5. Sensitive skin- though not really a skin type. Shows your skin is compromised in a sense, itchy or inflamed.

How to treat each type.

1. Dry skin- use a mild cleanser. Always hydrate with water or rose water then moisturize at least twice a day.

2. Oily skin- use oil absorbing cleansers and masks. Oil control serums like niacinamide and light moisturizers like gels. Cleanse at least twice a day to cut back on the oil production, don’t forget to moisturize to avoid over compensation (excess oil production).

3. Combination skin- use a gentle cleanser to avoid triggering the larger pores in the T-Zone.

4. Normal skin- all hail the normal skin people because you may not have much to worry about. Not to say you should just up and leave, oh nay nay, you should equally take care of it as you may occasionally be prone to dry, oily, combination or sensitive state. Cleanse and moisturize accordingly.

5. Sensitive skin- cleanse and moisturize with preferably fragrant free and dye free products. Avoid harsh products as this may irritate the skin.

PS: Don’t sleep in your make up (this includes just the moisturizer you wore during the day) wash your face at least twice a day to remove dirt built up in the course of the day, hydrate your skin through all the seasons and don’t skip your moisturizers, unless on any treatment as adviced by your dermatologist.
